A celebration of the Year of the Ox.
The evening of Monday 26th January saw nearly 200 pupils and staff gather in the Dining Hall to commemorate Chinese New Year. The evening's entertainment began with a fantastic fireworks display, and then guests were seated for a delicious traditional Chinese meal prepared by the School's catering staff. There were a number of competitions (Blindfold Chinese Food Tasting, Chinese Calligraphy, Best Chinese Outfit and a Chinese General Knowledge Quiz) as well as the traditional Lion Dance and a wonderful performance of The Butterfly Dance. In addition, in the true spirit of global harmony, a superb traditional Russian dance was performed that had the audience truly spellbound!
The evening drew to a close with a couple of songs performed by the Fitzmaurice House resident band. Members of the International Society organised the event, and special mention goes to Richard Ko, Jessica Siu and Debbie Wing for their extraordinary efforts which ensured a superb evening was had by all.
