Commonwealth Essay Competition
Pupil declared winner
Last October, a Lower School pupil (pictured above) was entered into the Under 12 category of the Commonwealth Essay Competition by his former primary school teacher, submitting an essay written just before coming to Dauntsey's.
The Commonwealth Essay Competition, run by the Royal Commonwealth Society, inspires thousands of young writers from all Commonwealth countries and territories. He was selected as the overall winner for his age group - apparently the first UK based pupil to have won this for some considerable time! The Head Master presented the winning certificate at full school assembly, and, as well as a £200 cash prize, he has also been invited to the Commonwealth Day Celebrations in London on 9th March, which includes a service at Westminster Abbey. Congratulations for this tremendous achievement.
