HISTORY LECTURE
Prof Miri Rubin gives enlightening lecture.
On the evening of Monday 23rd February, an audience of pupils, staff, parents and members of the wider community were treated to a truly memorable history lecture on "Pre-Modern Representations of the Virgin' by Prof. Miri Rubin. Prof Rubin is one of the most highly regarded scholars of the pre- and early modern periods, and she explored ways in which the early portrayals of the Virgin evolved up to the sixteenth century, and how they reveal hidden truths about the social structures and cultural developments of the period. Prof Rubin's acute knowledge and understanding of the subject matter, coupled with her warm and charismatic delivery, ensured the evening was not only extremely informative, but also thoroughly enjoyable.
