OD Hockey and Dinner
Old Dauntseians' Events
Friday 20th March saw a large number of Old Dauntseians, of all ages and generations, return to Dauntsey's. At 4.30pm, the OD mixed hockey team put the Dauntsey's mixed team through their paces, finally winning 3 goals to 2. The OD mens' team put up a valiant fight, but the School's 1st XI won the game by a close 2 goals to 1. It was a great pleasure to see so many recent ODs back on the hockey field, and many of them commented on how much they enjoyed their first time playing on the newly opened Astro Turf.
Later that evening, some of the aforementioned hockey players joined the 85 guests who attended the annual ODA Dinner in the Dining Hall. The meal provided by the catering team was delicious, and the Head Master gave an update on how Dauntsey's was faring, including all the many events that have, and are still due, to take place this academic year. In a break from the traditional format, the guests were then treated to some superb musical entertainment, courtesy of four Sixth Formers who had performed in December's musical: Evita. Poppy Salter, Tom Hollis, Jonathan Barnwell and Emma Jackson were accompanied on the piano by Mrs Anna Roberts, to great acclaim from the audience. The Chairman of the ODA, Jeff Balcombe, rounded off the evening with a speech outlining the various projects the ODA has sponsored this year, with special mention to the newly established ODA Richard Sandbrook Award.
