Sea Survival Course
Preparation for Trans-Atlantic crossing
On Sunday 22nd March, 12 pupils and recent leavers spent the day attending a Sea Survival Course in both the pool and the classroom at Dauntsey's. This was in preparation for their two trans-Atlantic crossings onboard Jolie Brise this summer, when they take part in the ocean going legs of the Tall Ships Race. During the course they learned about the dangers of hypothermia and how to: inflate, board, survive, and right, a capsized life-raft.
All participants proudly attained their RYA/MCA Sea Survival Certificate, a qualification which can also be used towards a Yachtmaster's ticket in later life.
