Haiti Fair - Pupils and Staff Raise close to £2,500
On Monday 1st March, pupils and staff hosted a fundraising fair in aid of the Haiti relief effort. Pupils and staff were allowed to come in mufti for a £1 donation, and the School catering staff laid on a meagre lunch, saving some £300 which was then donated to the overall funds.
In the afternoon, the warm sunshine provided the perfect backdrop to an afternoon of fun-filled, imaginative activities. Pupils and staff from each of the twelve houses organised various stalls, each offering different activities, including: a tombola, t-shirt bring and buy, apple bobbing, a treasure hunt, cake sale, finger nail painting, karaoke, a ladder game, basketball shooting, guess the jelly beans in the jar, air rifle shooting, mini golf and bottle and coconut shies. Particularly popular were the candy floss stall, the chocolate fountain, Chinese calligraphy, the 'greasy pole' pillow fights (enjoyed by many of the teachers!) and the 'sponge' the teacher (enjoyed by many of the pupils!).
The Haiti Fair was the brainchild of Sixth Form pupil, Will Barker, and the great effort put in by everyone resulted in raising almost £2,500 for the Haiti relief effort.
