Inter-House Public Speaking Competition - Wednesday 3rd March

This years' competition was a real success with a wide variety of topics debated.

The standard of debate was very high and as always a difficult one to judge.

The best team and the Frankel Cup were awarded to Hemens, represented by David Williams and Jethro Thompson.

The best response was awarded to Isabelle Thompson of Lambert and Sasha Tyurina representing Jeanne was awarded a commendation for her speech , with Lambert and Jeanne sharing first place for the Girls' Houses.

Topics debated

Jeanne -  'This House believes that the views of Nick Griffin should not be publicly broadcast'.

Evans -  'This House believes that environmental action has become futile tokenism'.

King Reynolds -  'This House believes that men are biologically predisposed to be unfaithful'.

Lambert - 'This House believes that private and professional lives should be separate.'

Farmer - 'This House believes that the voting age should be increased to 21'.

Hemens -  'This House believes that Twentieth-Century Feminism has achieved nothing for women'.

Mercers -  'This House believes that class still matters.'

Fitzmaurice -  'This House believes that we should try to cope with global warming rather than prevent it.'
