Dodecahedron Competition - Finals Day

On Tuesday 9th June the Maths Department hosted the Dauntsey’s Dodecahedron Competition, welcoming 30 top mathematicians from various local schools.

Over 700 Pupils in the Wessex area aged 12 and under, from some 200 schools take part. The 30 candidates scoring the highest marks in the preliminary round (a multiple-choice paper taken in their own school) are then invited to the Finals Day at Dauntsey’s.On the day they completed two mathematical investigations as well as a challenging multiple-choice paper together with the opportunity to have a swim or learn to juggle. The standard is always extremely high and everyone had a great day.

Congratulations to everyone who attended and especially to the winner, Gareth from Clifton College Prep School. Gareth also won the competition last year, making him the first person in the twenty-one year history of the event to defend his title. He is awarded the Silver Dodecahedron trophy, to keep at his school for a year, together with a plaque for him to keep.
