Jolie Brise Easter Cruise
The Easter Cruise onboard Jolie Brise saw the crew of eight Fourth and Fifth Form pupils do a 5-day round trip, leaving the Hamble on 13th April, and visiting Yarmouth, Weymouth, Poole Harbour and returning via the Needles. The overall sailing conditions were good, with some fine weather, except for the last day which was wet and overcast as they returned to the Hamble. On the Friday, internationally renowned photographer, Rick Tomlinson, took time out of his busy schedule to take some photographs onboard the famous gaff cutter.
Jolie Brise left for Vigo in Spain on 20th April, and is being crewed by six parents, one former parent, and a grandparent. Under the expert guidance of Toby Marris, skipper, they will deliver Jolie Brise to the port of Vigo by 1st May. This is where she will then embark upon her summer adventure: the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge 2009. The race will cover over 7,000 nautical miles around the North Atlantic Ocean following the traditional route taken by sailing ships of a by-gone age, with visits to seven host ports in five countries.
