Lutra Shield Athletics Competition
On Saturday 2nd May, the Senior Boy athletes travelled to the Yeovil Arena to try and retain the Lutra Shield (which they won last year). It was always going to be a tough competition, and Millfield showed real class as they won the event. There were seven other schools there on the day: Millfield, Sherborne, Bryanston, Bishop Wordsworth's, Wellington, Blundells and Taunton. Oliver B, team captain, led by example with an excellent win in the high jump and a 52 second 400m run. Ewan Duffin won his hurdle race in a time of 16.1 seconds and also ran a 2.07 for the 800m race. It was a real team performance with many personal bests achieved on the day. When the final results were read out, the Dauntsey's team were delighted to be placed second out of the eight schools, and Oliver collected the Runners Up Shield.
