Music in Primary Schools
Second Formers play locally

In September, a small group of Second Form musicians, including Sam and Josephine playing flute, Henry on clarinet and George on the cello, was formed, and they have been practicing hard ever since. The culmination of all their hard work took place on 23^rd June, when they took a 30 minute presentation to Urchfont and Preshute Primary Schools. The pupils presented the whole concert themselves and it included a wide range of music from Handel to the theme tune from the "Muppet Show" and "Postman Pat" (which received an encore at Preshute)! The musicians talked about various things connected with the music, for example what a Gavotte is, and the importance of rhythm and pitch. The primary school pupils thoroughly enjoyed the musical presentations and clearly found them both entertaining and informative.
