German Scholarship
Congratulations to the Sixth Form linguist who is the first Dauntsey's pupil to have been awarded a place on the 2010 UK-German Connection scholarship programme. She was one of only 15 UK Lower Sixth pupils to be selected (having submitted an essay and a sample of her school work) and she wins a month in Germany this summer. The programme will include visits to several major cities, school visits, project work and home stays.
Chemistry Olympiad
Well done to three of our top Sixth Form Chemistswho recently entered the UK Chemistry Olmpiad. Ronald C. was awarded Bronze, Henry B. Silver and Tom C. is the first Dauntsey's pupil to have achieved a Gold. This is particularly significant, as it means that Tom ranks amongst the top 210 of 2,400 candidates who were awarded Gold, with an impressive score of 46/61 - well above the grade boundary of 39.
Open University Certificate
A Dauntsey's pupil has just achieved his Level 4 Certificate in Natural Sciences from the Open University after completing a number of modules through Open University YASS (Young Applicants in Schools and Colleges Scheme). He can now use the designatory letters Cert NatSci (Open).
Intel Scholarship
Academic standards are high at Dauntsey's, and we are delighted that a member of the Upper Sixth has just been awarded a scholarship from Intel to attend university.1400 high calibre students from 13 countries worldwide applied for the 352 awards available, and our pupil was one of only seven UK based pupils to be gain an award. He will receive $4,000 (approx £2,600) to go towards books and tuition in his first year at university. He hopes to study engineering at the University of Warwick.
