Colts Cricket -Tour of the West Country

At the end of term, the newly formed Colts Cricket XI set off for a short tour of the West Country.

The first match was at a wet and windy Plymouth College where we played against a senior team. They proved to be quite strong and their 1st XI captain scored a century as they posted 192 in 30 overs. We batted bravely a made a respectable 152 in reply. That night we were hosted at the College bunk house on Dartmoor. This was basic accommodation in a very remote and beautiful setting and was a great addition to the tour experience.

On Monday we travelled to North Devon to play West Buckland Colts. This was an excellent game between two well matched teams. Dauntsey's won the match by 1 run! The boys were hosted overnight by the families of our opposition.

The final game, en route home, was against Queen's College, Taunton. After a visit to the cricket museum at the County Ground, we played another strong senior XI. We fielded brilliantly and kept them to 205 in 40 overs. Sadly our batting was disappointing and we showed the effects of a very busy 3 days, being dismissed for 102.

Overall the tour provided great cricketing experience for the players, many of whom should be looking to play 1st XI games next year.
