Moonrakers Camp: June 13th - 18th 2011
Outward Bound in Wales

Last week all the Third Form attended Moonrakers Camp in Aberdovey, Wales for a week of outward bound activities designed to challenge and foster team spirit.

The residential camp is the culmination of the School's Moonrakers adventure programme. The pupils enjoyed a range of activities which started within half an hour of getting to camp with a jog and dip in the Dovey estuary. Different groups completed sailing trips, canoeing and kayaking trips, rock climbing, jetty jumping, cave/mine exploration as well as various aerial rope tasks such as the trapeze, Jacobs ladder (climbing with your group up an ever-widening giant rope ladder) and of course the two day overnight expedition. A number of groups climbed Cadair Idris with some camping at the summit! There were also plenty of less physical team activities that helped foster team work and leadership.

Everyone had a great time. Cameron Garbutt Wichall’s personal highlights were his kayaking trip on the Dovey Estuary and seeing Mr Whyte fall into the “Grot Pot”. Robyn Weir said, "I loved jacob's ladder because it meant you had all your trust in one person and had to work as a team too. I also loved the high ropes because it was challenging and fun."
