    Ten Tors Challenge

Congratulations to our Ten Tors Team who demonstrated tremendous strength of character, determination, courage and team spirit to complete this years' gruelling 45 mile challenge across Dartmoor.

The team began at 7am on Saturday having spent the previous evening planning their route and schedule with an aim to finish at just after 4 o'clock on Sunday, one hour before the 5 o'clock deadline.

Alarmingly, a lot of time was lost that first morning and by Tor 3 (Great Mis Tor) the team were about 1 hour 40mins behind schedule; a pretty desperate position to be in. However, they managed to quicken the pace and checked into their last Tor of the day (Tor 6 - Higher Hartor) at 7.20pm having recovered 40 minutes, but still an hour behind schedule. As darkness started to fall, the team elected to push on past other teams that had pitched camp for the night and continued walking until 10.30pm, bringing their first day total to a staggering 15.5 hours, but back on track. They were now precisely in the spot that they had intended to camp and they ended the day with a meal of cold lamb curry!

On Sunday the team set their alarms for 4am and were walking again by 5.10am. They battled on through another 11 hours of walking, crossing the finishing line at 16.06 exactly as planned to complete an impressive and inspirational team performance.
