Head Master's Notices
A Happy New Year to everyone and I hope that you all enjoyed Christmas and the break. It is certainly good to be back and I wish you all a happy and successful 2017.
Our Fifth Formers have started their mock examinations and I wish them continued luck into next week.
Our hockey and netball teams have fixtures tomorrow against Warminster, Farleigh, King’s Bruton, and Bradfield College. Good luck also to our cross country team who are at taking part at the County Schools’ Cross Country event at Sheldon School tomorrow.
Finally, I hope that everyone has an enjoyable and relaxing weekend after this busy first week of school.
Whole School Notices and Reminders
Invitation to Parents and Pupils for Mental Health Awareness Event.
As Theresa May has been discussing recently, mental health does not always receive the attention it should. Therefore Dauntsey’s School Listening Service is running a Mental Health Awareness Week. As part of this week, on Thursday 19 January at 19:30 there will a discussion panel which will comprise of four short speeches from guest speakers on the topic of mental health, followed by a question and answer session. This event is aimed at parents, staff and pupils and hopes to explore issues such as identifying, approaching and dealing with a range of mental health issues. It will be a very valuable event for all parents and pupils to attend.
If you wish to attend please contact reception to allow for seating arrangements.
Fifth Form Options Fair
A reminder that the Fifth Form Options Fair takes place on Friday 20 January at 16:15. This is a great chance for pupils to find out more about subjects they are interested in studying at A-level. The event is designed for pupils only, ahead of the Parents’ Evening for parents and pupils on Thursday 26 January.
Jolie Brise – Summer Programme 2017
This year we are taking part in the Rendez-vous 2017 Tall Ships Race Regatta as part of the summer sailing programme, which will include destinations such Gaspé, Quebec, Halifax and Lé Havre.

Fifth Form Mocks and Public Examination Timetables
Please note that exam timetables are now available in the Examinations area on the School Intranet. Personal Timetables for public examinations will come in during the second half of this term.
Tuition Parents Evening
Thursday 9 February
19:00 in the Memorial Hall
Please note the Music Tuition Parents’ Evening, for instrumental and vocal tuition, this year is as detailed above. The instrumental teachers will arrange an appointment time for you. Your son/daughter will bring this home in a letter. If any teachers are unable to be present on the night, they will contact you individually and arrange another convenient time for you to meet with them or have a telephone conversation.
Barnardo's National Choral
Friday 17 March
Royal Festival Hall, London
Congratulations to our Female Voices Choir who have been
selected as one of only six schools to sing in the final of the Barnardo's
National Choral Competition. They will perform in the Festival Hall on 17
Tickets for the National Choral competition will be available from the Royal Festival Hall Box office. Tickets go on sale 23 January.

DSPA Sports and Social
Saturday 21 January
The DSPA will be running a sports and social morning. The idea is to get as many parents together as possible and enjoy the schools facilities. Whether you wish to meet others socialising over a cup of tea or coffee or are more energetic and would like to be involved in various sports options.
Tea and Coffee available from 0930 to 1200 in the Pavilion.
Sports facilities available from 0830 to 11.00. These include Swimming / athletics / walking / tennis / squash and table tennis from 10 to 11.30.

swimming pool foyer when arriving. Members of the DSPA committee will be there
to direct and assist you.

DSPA Committee meeting
The DSPA will be holding the committee meeting for this term in The William Dauntsey’s room on Tuesday 17 January at 19:30. If you would like to become involved then do please join us.
We all want to spread the word about our businesses and what we can offer. For a fee of just £10.00 for two months you can advertise on the school Intranet. Confirmation classes are starting this term in preparation for a Confirmation Service at Salisbury Cathedral at 18:30 on Saturday 13 May. This is an important step in faith for those who have been baptised (or who wish to be baptised at the Confirmation Service itself). Welcome back to Manor pupils for this Spring term 2017, we are looking forward to a fantastic term.
Tonight we have a Manor Dorms of the Week treat night as well as some ‘’Friends on Friday” guests. Tomorrow evening we will all enjoy a film and popcorn night followed Mrs Hurst’s Treasure Hunt around The Manor grounds on Sunday.
