Dauntsey's Bulletin no. 50

Head Master's Notices

It has been a busy and challenging week. The Fifth Form have been fully occupied with their Mock Exams, and our School Listening Service has run a Mental Health Awareness Week culminating in an excellent discussion panel yesterday evening. Training for the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race has begun in earnest with our crews out on the Kennet and Avon canal.

This week we were also delighted to learn that our stage production of Billy Elliot has been invited to perform at the Novello Theatre on the West End stage in London on the night of Sunday 19 March. This is an exceptional opportunity for everyone involved, and we are incredibly proud. Details on ticket arrangements will be coming soon.

With a cold but sunny forecast for the weekend I am looking forward to getting out and about tomorrow to cheer on our teams. We have busy afternoon scheduled with fixtures against Monkton Combe, Bryanston, Clifton College, Bristol Grammar School, Warminster and Clayesmore.

Manor Matters

Treat night and the First Form cinema trip took place last Friday –La La Land was a big hit…as was the pizza they had afterwards! Four more lucky dorms will be chosen by the prefects to watch a film and have popcorn and hot chocolate in the Hurst’s living room this coming Friday.

Mrs Hurst’s Treasure Hunt was a big success on Sunday, with The Manor boys and girls tearing around the grounds to find more clues, chocolate, more chocolate, and ultimately, to emerge as winners of the Hunt! The winners were Second Formers Sofia, Annabelle, Olivia, Lucy and Henry.

This week we have had many recovering from some high temperatures and coughs, but most are back and fighting fit now. The weekend ahead sees some Manorites heading off on the Lower School Paintballing Trip on Sunday, whilst the rest will enjoy some relaxing time at The Manor or can head in to Devizes to the skate park or for some light shopping.
