Head Master's Notices
It is often said that the weeks rush by in schools, but it is hard to believe that we have reached half-term and the mid-point of the academic year already. I am delighted to say that it has been smooth sailing so far and I couldn’t be happier with the way that the year is progressing.
A particular highlight of this week was our latest Mercers’ Lecture by Mariella Frostrup. She was both empowering and entertaining, and delivered a powerful message about self-belief. It was a real privilege to sit amongst the packed audience.
I would also like to thank and congratulate the pupils who participated in the 24 hour ‘Runathon’. It was great to see so many involved and raising money for this year’s school charity, Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
I wish everyone a happy and restful half-term break and hope that our Upper Sixth historians enjoy Paris.

Post GCSE Enrichment Programmes 2017
Fifth Form parents who haven’t already done so are asked to return their child’s three choices for the Post GCSE Enrichment programmes this year. The programmes are described here on the intranet
We ask each pupil for three choices, in order of preference, so that we can allocate places as fairly as possible. This normally happens after February half term. Although most years we manage to get 95% of pupils onto their first or second choice, inevitably a handful will be on their third so please ensure that they would be happy to do all three.
If we receive only one or two choices, our expectation is that pupils would prefer not to take part if they don’t get these choices.
The deadline for applications is Sunday 19 February 2017, after which we will let pupils know which programme they will be taking part in.
Jolie Brise – Summer Programme 2017
This year we are taking part in the Rendez-vous 2017 Tall Ships Race Regatta as part of the summer sailing programme, which will include destinations such Gaspé, Quebec, Halifax and Lé Havre.
Along with information about our Easter cruises, the full programme and application form is available on the Intranet here.

We have over 25 acts signed up and so Rockfest 2017 will be at both 14.00 and 16.15 on Monday 27 February.
Because of the numbers of pupils taking part the concerts will not have a Lower School / Upper School split. Each act will play one or two songs and be limited overall to a maximum of 7 minutes.
To resolve any technical considerations the Sunday rehearsal schedule and two concert programmes will be planned over half term. Please remind all pupils taking part to check the notice board outside the music studio straight after half term.
If any pupils have specific time requests for the Sunday rehearsals please email me and I will do my best to accommodate them.
