Head Master's Notices
On Tuesday evening we welcomed Jeremy Bowen to the school for the last in this year’s Mercers’ Lecture series. He gave a candid and very entertaining account of his life as the Middle East correspondent for the BBC. The hall was packed and it was an excellent finale to a fantastic line-up of speakers. Elsewhere oral and practical examinations are well underway and stress levels seem to be gently on the incline.
I wish our athletes, competing in the Lutra Shield at the Yeovil Arena, and our cricket and tennis teams the best of luck tomorrow.
Please can I also remind you that this term’s Exeat weekend includes the Bank Holiday Monday. It starts after sporting commitments have been fulfilled on Saturday afternoon.
The Jolie Brise has just come 1st overall and 1st in class for the first leg of the 7,000 nautical mile transatlantic Rendez Vous 2017 Tall Ships race. You can follow her on her journey using this fleet tracker here. She is currently in Sines, Portugal which is where the next leg of the race will start. Please do have a look as this lovely video shot of the Jolie Brise, from the start of the race out of Torbay.

First Form Language Options
A reminder that First Form language options are due in to House staff on Wednesday 3 May please. Many thanks.
The school is always
very keen to hear from parents who may be able to offer work
experience/shadowing opportunities or who are aware of work experience programs
in the organisation they work for. The pupils gain a huge amount from the
process and, in our experience, those involved on the employer side also find
the process most worthwhile.
Placement duration tends to be between two and five days and arranging them is far simpler than many anticipate. If you would like to know more then do please contact either James O’Hanlon email@example.com or Carrie Watson firstname.lastname@example.org in the Careers Department
For Parents of Lower Sixth pupils

Many institutions hold Open Days in the summer term and for many of these it is perfectly acceptable to simply turn up on the day. However, pre booking for some is advised especially if you wish to access some of the lectures on offer. Individual University websites are the best source of information but a useful central list can be found at https://www.opendays.com/
