Dauntsey's Bulletin no. 62

Head Master's Notices
I am delighted to report that our Open Morning last Saturday was very well attended, and as always the stars of the show were our current pupils. The Third Form showed our visitors around and were widely praised for being polite, honest, charming and very good company.
Public Examinations have continued to take place in school, and I know that everyone is working hard, including those lower down the school who have internal exams in the next few weeks.
In addition to wishing all of our sports teams the best of luck this weekend, I also hope that our Confirmation candidates enjoy a happy time at their service in Salisbury Cathedral on Saturday evening.
I would also like to wish Dauntsey's equestrian teams good luck at Stonar ISODE this weekend.

all the riders competing at Stonar ISODE this weekend the very best
The school is always
very keen to hear from parents who may be able to offer work
experience/shadowing opportunities or who are aware of work experience programs
in the organisation they work for. The pupils gain a huge amount from the
process and, in our experience, those involved on the employer side also find
the process most worthwhile.
Placement duration tends to be between two and five days and arranging them is far simpler than many anticipate. If you would like to know more then do please contact either James O’Hanlon firstname.lastname@example.org or Carrie Watson email@example.com in the Careers Department
Engineering Work Experience
Now in its third year; Dauntsey’s pupils will have the opportunity to undertake a week of work experience at MOD Lyneham. Primarily aimed at potential engineers (16 years old and above), the week will give an overview of helicopter, wheeled and armoured vehicle maintenance training. It will encompass classroom, hangar and outdoor activities. The week should provide a valuable insight to working life outside the school environment. Limited to 10 places.
Please contact Mr James O’Hanlon, Dauntsey’s career advisor.

Many institutions hold Open Days in the summer term and for many of these it is perfectly acceptable to simply turn up on the day. Lower School Notices and Reminders
As the sun has finally come out, the Manor boys and girls have had a great week, heading out to play in the woods, the stream, or just to go for a walk, a run, or play a friendly game of football or touch rugby! Hopefully this warm weather will continue and we will be able to get the infamous water slide out, and start having our suppers outside at the picnic tables.
The Manor general knowledge team also emerged victorious in the Lower School Competition, gaining valuable points in the Rendell Trophy. Well done to Max, Tabby, Josh, Grace, Georgina and Alex for their efforts!
The Manor Charity Duck Race takes place this evening in the stream in the woods!
This weekend sees the Manor Marathon take place, with around 20 boys and girls cycling back to The Manor from Bath and around 10 running a 10km route back to the House, where participants, staff and families will enjoy a bbq and other refreshments – good luck to all pupils, parents and staff taking part!
