Dauntsey's Bulletin no. 71

Head Master's Notices
With the term now in full swing everyone seems to be settling well into their daily routines.
This term we run a lot of activities to ensure that it is easy for everyone to make friends and I do hope that the Lower School enjoy their Funfair and BBQ this evening.
Last night we welcomed Alex Thomson, the fastest Britain to sail single handed, non-stop, around the globe. About 450 attendees were fascinated by his talk of his offshore adventures, and it was a wonderful opening for this year’s Mercers’ Lecture series.
Tomorrow afternoon we are hosting an exhibition of classic cars here at the school, which will form part of a bigger exhibition at our Art Department. Further details are below.
I am looking forward to getting out and about this weekend, meeting parents on the touch-lines, with fixtures taking place against Churcher’s College and Sherborne Girls. Please do come and say hello.

Lower School Notices and Reminders
Last weekend saw all 70 lower school boarders enjoy a fun-filled activity weekend. Mugs were painted, cookies were baked and trees were climbed up using ropes, and then descended down using a zip-wire. In addition, all of the Manorites were sent off around our beautiful grounds on a Scavenger Hunt - plenty of feathers, blackberries and golf balls were found on the Hunt!
There is certainly a happy ‘buzz’ in the house as all of our new boarders begin to feel at home in The Manor – friendships are being formed and our Lower Sixth Prefects held a basketball competition and made some delicious savoury bites with our younger pupils this week.
Several children went to the Mercers’ Lecture on Thursday evening and returned to the house full of resolve to achieve their dreams – everyone is certainly sleeping well after such a busy first week.
This afternoon we will all be heading to Main School for the Funfair and BBQ and then this weekend sees a quieter and relaxed weekend in the House, with a shopping trip to Devizes on Sunday morning and then an afternoon filled with card games and a table tennis tournament.
