Head Master's Notices

The ‘Art in Motion’ exhibition of classic cars here at school last weekend was a great success and I do hope that those who came along enjoyed the afternoon. Please note that the rest of the exhibition continues until October 7 in our Art Department.

Tomorrow sees fixtures against Prior Park College and KES Bath, while Jeanne will be busily preparing for their House Party in the evening.

Looking ahead to next week, I hope that many of you will be able to join us on Friday for our annual Inter-House Cross-Country Competition and Minor Sports Festival. This is always a fun occasion for spectators and please remember that parents are very welcome to take part in the cross-country event. The Exeat weekend will give everyone plenty of time to recover!

Whole School Notices and Reminders

Charity Update

The money raised by the school for Wiltshire Air Ambulance last academic year was £14,432.66. A huge thank you to anyone who put on or participated in a charity event in school, to those who took part in the Runathon or who bought a calendar, and an extra special mention to the DW team, who raised over £5000!

We will be presenting the cheque to Jemma Brown of WAA on Monday at the Head Master's Assembly. The process of voting for this year’s school charity – which will be an international charity - has already begun.

For those parents who are new to the school and need some guidance on on how to use the Parent Portal for information, as well as sharing details and finding other parents details, please read our short guide here.

Lower School Notices and Reminders

Manor Matters

The Manorites enjoyed a relaxing time in the sunshine last weekend. A leisurely brunch provided the ideal start to Sunday and, following a shopping trip to Devizes, many of our lower school boarders enjoyed playing outside in our beautiful grounds.

As well as football and tree climbing, some of our intrepid pupils ventured to the stream in an attempt to catch some crayfish; they came back empty handed but had great fun and ‘almost caught a really big one’!

A delicious roast dinner rounded off the weekend well and prepared us for another busy week of activities; many of our pupils have played in sports matches this week and some enjoyed performing at the Music Scholars’ Concert at Main School last night. In addition, other activities this week have included a ‘wide game’ organised by our Upper Sixth.

Please do follow us on Twitter @ManorDauntseys to keep up to date.

First Form Parents' Reception

Saturday 23 September, 12:00 - 13:00 in the Pavilion

You are welcome to attend the First Form Parents’ Reception on Saturday 23 September, 12:00 - 13:00 in the Pavilion. There will be an opportunity to meet with House staff and other parents. Lunch will be provided following the Head Master’s address.

I look forward to seeing you.

Kind regards,
Eleni Conidaris, Head of Lower School

Visiting Authors

Authors Rob Lloyd-Jones and Beverley Naidoo will be visiting Dauntsey’s next term to speak to the First and Second form respectively.

Rob will be talking about his latest novel, The Jake Atlas Treasury, to the first form, and Beverley will discuss The Other Side of the Truth. Pupils in either year will greatly benefit from reading these books in advance of the visit, and might want to explore other books by the same authors: Wild Boy by Rob Lloyd-Jones is highly recommended too.

Impero: Online Safety

Through comprehensive online safety monitoring, Dauntsey's School is complying with the recent changes to the DfE’s Keeping Children Safe in Education statutory guidance
