Head Master's Notices

I am pleased to report that Open Morning last Saturday was well attended with the Memorial Hall full of prospective families. As always, our guides from the Third and Sixth Forms were outstanding ambassadors for the school and did an excellent job showing our visitors around.

On Wednesday evening, Dr Bettany Hughes visited to give her lecture on How to make the Greatest City on Earth. Engaging, great fun and full of energy, Dr Hughes gave us a memorable evening.

Tomorrow, the girls’ hockey teams take on Pangbourne College, whilst the boys play Sandroyd and Clayesmore.

I look forward to seeing some of you at tonight's Upper Sixth parents' meeting, and I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend.

Lower School Notices and Reminders

Manor Matters

This week, The Manor has been filled with the sound of music as our children rehearse for the Lower School House Singing event next Thursday.

We have also welcomed some new residents to the house – our 4 gerbils are proving to be a great hit with the children and plans are in place for hamsters and goldfish to arrive in the next few weeks….I have put a stop to the idea that horses and llama may be welcome too!

Evening entertainment in the House has been varied once again – several of our pupils attended the Mercers’ Lecture on Wednesday, pancakes were flipped, eaten and enjoyed on Wednesday night, and the table tennis table remains the centre of many fierce battles!
Anne Sampson, House Mistress.
