Dauntsey's Bulletin no. 76

Friday 20 October 2017

Head Master's Notices

The Music and Drama departments have been busy this week. ‘Datum’, a compelling and thoughtful play about loss and loneliness, had a very successful three-day run, while the Lower School put on both a competition and a concert. I congratulate all the pupils who took part.

At this moment and over half-term, we have a number of trips taking place. Our Upper Sixth Physicists have departed for CERN in Geneva while a group of Fifth Form pupils set off first thing this morning for the World War One battlefields. Our Upper School Spanish pupils leave for Granada on Sunday and the Upper Sixth Geographers depart for Iceland next Saturday. I wish all a safe and rewarding journey.

I hope that everyone has an enjoyable and relaxing break, after a fantastic first half of term, and thank you for your support.

Lower School Notices and Reminders

Manor Matters

Last Sunday saw 35 Manorites flipping, twisting and somersaulting at Freedog Trampolining centre in Swindon; Miss Wilkins impressed all with her controlled back-flips! After a stop off, on the way back, in Marlborough for coffee and shopping, the Manorites returned having had a great day out.

This week we have enjoyed the first of our ‘Manor Legend Evenings’, and 15 ‘legends’ enjoyed pizza after Prep; the pupils are nominated for legend status by staff and pupils within the house and it is awarded to those considered to have been outstanding in any area of school/house life – sporting, academic, musical or dramatic; or for just being an all-round ‘good egg’!
Anne Sampson, House Mistress.
