Dauntsey's Bulletin no. 78
Friday 10 November 2017
Head Master's Notices
Steve Backshall’s Mercers’ Lecture on Tuesday night was inspiring, fascinating and very funny for all those present. Almost 1800 people were packed into the Memorial Hall over two lecture times and were asked to look after our planet, be unafraid to take on challenges of any size, and to believe in themselves.
Our Remembrance Day Service takes place at 10.45 on Sunday and the speaker is Brigadier R V Walton-Knight, CBE. All members of the congregation are invited for coffee and drinks in the dining hall immediately after the service and parents currently serving in the Armed Forces are warmly invited to wear uniform, if they so wish. Please note that all boarding pupils are expected to attend.
I also remind you that we have the First Form Parents' Evening in the Memorial Hall tonight and a reception for Parents of Second and Third Form pupils on Saturday at 12:00 in the Pavilion.
I hope that many of you will join us for the Autumn Concert, featuring many of the School’s major ensembles, next Thursday.
Finally, well done to our sports teams who have been in action this week, and good luck for the fixtures against Wellington College and Bishop Wordsworth’s School tomorrow.

Lower School Notices and Reminders
Staff, parents, pupils, and friends were all treated to a spectacular display at the Manor Bonfire and Fireworks night last Sunday. Preparations for the evening took place over the weekend and the Manorites had a lot of fun carving the scariest pumpkin faces that they could. The kitchen was also a hive of activity as cookies, cakes and toffee apples were prepared under the watchful eye of Miss Wilkins and Mr Gordon, and they both picked up some handy cooking tips from the pupils in the process! Overall, a magnificent sum of £1179.69 was raised for the School Charity, Malayaka House.
This weekend we are looking
forward to table tennis on Saturday evening, and a trip to watch ‘Paddington 2’
after the Remembrance Service on Sunday.
