Dauntsey's Bulletin no. 82
Friday 8 December 2017
Head Master's Notices
It has been a thoroughly enjoyable week with the wonderful Les Misérables playing to packed houses and over 3000 people in its six night run. I wish the cast and crew well for their last performance tomorrow night and I hope that they enjoy the end of show party on Monday – they have certainly earned it after all their hard work over the last few weeks and months.
I wish our sports teams tomorrow the best of luck, with fixtures against Bristol Grammar School, Warminster, and Lord Wandsworth College.
Looking ahead to next week, we have a Mufti day on Wednesday in aid of our school charity – I look forward to seeing everyone in their finest Christmas jumpers! The Carol Services on Thursday and Friday will then round off our Autumn term which will officially end at 16.00 on Friday 15 December.

The Dauntsey Diary
The Dauntsey Diary is a magazine written by Lower Sixth Form pupils as part of their General Studies programme. We produce four editions of 'The Diary' each year.
The magazine can sometimes be irreverent, tongue-in-cheek and funny, but it is always written to be interesting and entertaining. We hope you enjoy reading it!
Our special thanks this term goes to Andy Lam for all the formatting and design.

Nigel Owens MBE is recognised as one of the world’s best rugby referees. Born and bred in Mynyddcerrig, he first picked up the referee whistle aged 16. Nigel officiated his first international game in 2005 between Ireland and Japan in Osaka and made his World Cup debut in 2007 refereeing the Argentina versus Georgia game in Lyon. He is the first openly gay man to referee at the highest level.
Currently booking is suspended due to the high numbers already reserved for this lecture. We will reopen booking spaces to parents and pupils only in January, before reopening to the public. An announcement will be made at the beginning of the Spring Term. Many thanks.

Lower School Notices and Reminders
Despite the end of term approaching and tiredness beginning to creep in, the Manorites kept themselves very busy last weekend and enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Craft Day. Many of the pupils made wooden trays with Mr Gibson, whilst Mrs Gibson lead the way with felt stocking decorations; many thanks indeed to them both for so kindly bringing their artistic skills to The Manor for the day!
Pupils also spent many hours arranging, and re-arranging the decorations on the tree – Christmas songs accompanied them while they worked and the House looked beautiful when the clearing up had been done!
This week saw us all
watching the opening night performance of Les Misérables, and preparations are
in full swing for our Advent Concert on Sunday.
