Mercers' Concerts 2010 - 2011

American born Maggie Cole enjoys an international music life performing on harpsicord, fortepiano and modern piano all over the world. She is well known in this country for her numerous recitals on Radio 3, her appearances at the major music festivals and recordings for Hyperion, Saydisc and Virgin Classics. She will be bringing her own fortepiano to Dauntsey's to accompany the international soprano, Julia Gooding, whose voice has been described as "a perfect voice, a timbre of burnished antique gold". Together they will present a programme on the theme of night and dreaming, including Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann and Chopin.

The Maggini Quartet

Formed in 1988, the Maggini Quartet is established as one of the finest British string quartets. Renowned for the championship of British repetoire through concerts and recordings, the ensemble's acclaimed and ongoing contribution to Naxos' British Music Series has seen their worldwide CD sales exceed 100,000. The quartet appears regularly in prestigious concert series, and we are delighted to welcome them to Dauntsey's where they will play a programme of quartets by Frank Bridge, Beethoven and Mendelssohn.
