Whether you are a boarder or a day pupil, Dauntsey's offers a thriving social life, and there are a large number of events and activities to ensure there is never a dull moment. In addition, each house organises events for its own Sixth Formers, such as bowling, pizza and curry nights, and cinema trips.
The 17 Club
The Sixth Form social 'epicentre', the 17 Club, is based in the heart of the School and is open at various times in the School day and at weekends. The Club sells sweets and drinks, and in the evenings it also serves alcohol under adult supervision. At the moment, boarders in the Sixth Form are entitled to two free alcoholic drinks for each week of the term. Mr Andy Hatcher (AJH), along with an elected Committee of Upper Sixth pupils, runs the 17 Club. Annual highlights include a visit to Dauntsey's by the Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club Tribute Band and the Valentine's Ball. If you wish to join the 17 Club you must apply for, and be granted, membership - the application process involves parental agreement.
The most popular Sixth Form event is the Summer Ball (on the last day of the summer term) to which parents and staff are also invited. The Sixth Form Reels evening (every two years) is a real 'hoot' and always enjoyed by everyone who is up for some Scottish dancing and a haggis supper.
Sixth Form Activity Day
This is held at the beginning of term and offers a great opportunity to get to know fellow pupils in a relaxed and fun environment. There are competitions, games and ice-breakers: the embarrassment potential is equally high for all participants and it is therefore a great way to break down the barriers and challenge inhibitions! Last year over 100 Sixth Formers took part, and it was a resounding success.
What else is there to do?
The response to this question is "simply loads!" As well as all the social events, the extra-curricular life here will have you spoilt for choice! There's drama, music and loads of clubs and societies to choose from.
Sixth Form pupils are expected to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the School and are encouraged to participate in some of the many activities on offer.
