Football at Dauntsey's

Football is played at Dauntsey’s in the Spring Term. The aim of the coaching team is to develop individual skills as well as preparing teams to represent the School. There is a big emphasis on teamwork and pupils are encouraged to take leadership on and off the field. Four years ago, a link was set up with Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust and once a week, one of their coaching staff visits the school to run a session with the boys.

The 1st XI play around nine to ten fixtures and around half of these are in the Baths and Wilts U19 League. The 2ndXI usually have about seven or eight fixtures. The fixture list is competitive against the likes of Marlborough, Sherborne, King Edward’s School, Bath, and Beechen Cliff providing stern opposition.

In recent years, there have been three football tours for Senior Boys: Gijon, Spain in 2006; Villarreal CF, Spain in 2010; AFC Ajax, The Netherlands in 2012. The tours in 2010 and 2012 were organised through the company inspiresport and included a programme of coaching with the professional staff at Villarreal and Ajax, as well as matches against local club opposition.
