Evans

Upper School Boarding (Girls 14-18yrs)

The "new" Evans House was opened thirteen years ago as a rapidly expanding Jeanne House burst at the seams.  As a purpose-built house for 60 young women, the accommodation of 36 single rooms and 12 double rooms is of the highest quality.  A communal kitchen, a kitchenette, spacious common rooms, foyer and outdoor patio area comprise the social areas. However, as in all the boarding houses, it is the quality of the pastoral care rather than the fixtures and fittings that provoke most comment from students and parents.

Four resident staff, some with their own young children add enormously to the domestic atmosphere that never replicates home life but offers a unique and extraordinarily rich environment for development.

Needless to say, this developmental process incorporates a large number of events organised for, and by, the girls throughout the year including; a Christmas dinner, house party, bowling ,cinema and shopping trips, not to mention informal barbecues and parties in the summer term. All that and academic guidance and 'ad hoc' revision sessions as well!
