I have attached an end of term letter to this bulletin and also links to an online Carol Service and Autumn Concert.

I thank you very much for your support this term and wish you all a very happy and healthy Christmas.

School Counselling for Upper School Boarding Boys

Thank you to all respondents to the online survey circulated last June, which was trying to identify the factors contributing to the access of school counselling to Upper School male boarders . Your sons have received a short summary of my findings, but if you would also like a copy, please email me at  c.coupe@dauntseys.wilts.sch.uk and I will send you one in the new year.

Thank you once again for taking the time to complete the questionnaires.

Christmas Maths Competition

Many thanks to the 50 or so pupils who took part in the Christmas Maths Competition! The standard of entries was very high, but after much deliberation we have some winners, who will each receive either a game or a book, plus some seasonal edibles:

Upper School

First place: Nicola Hand
Second place: Samuel Hart
Third place: Georgie Ethelston

Lower School

First place: Matthew Nocton
Joint second place: Sophie Walker and Dylan Parsons

I have attached the questions below as the solutions so you can challenge your families over Christmas dinner.  I have also attached two of the best tie-breaker questions that pupils devised – it was particularly entertaining reading those (thank you to Matthew Nocton and Abi Evans for those attached).

Manor Matters

Hopefully, all Manor Parents/Guardians will have received my end of term letter via email earlier today.

To summarise, we have made it through a long, challenging but extremely rewarding term. I have been hugely impressed with the positive approach and attitude adopted by the Manor pupils this term. If ever a Christmas break was well deserved, surely it is this one.

Our Christmas party was a huge success. An excellent meal was followed by karaoke, quiz and a visit from Father Christmas. The event rounded off the term perfectly and showed the importance of kids being kids, together in a school environment. Home Alone beat its sequel to win the Christmas Film World Cup and was enjoyed by many in the tv room last night.

My wife, daughters and I have thoroughly enjoyed this first term in The Manor, we would like to thank you all for your ongoing support and are looking forward to the shared adventures ahead in the new year.

Wishing you all a very happy, safe and peaceful Christmas.
Peter Guille, House Master.
