Tennis at Dauntsey's

During the Summer Term, Girls’ Tennis is offered in conjunction with Athletics, whilst Boy’s Tennis is offered in conjunction with Cricket and Athletics.

The School is very fortunate to have seven hard courts, three grass courts and 21 astro courts available throughout the term. During the Summer Term all of these courts are full with pupils enjoying tennis recreationally during the school day, outside of scheduled lesson times. Their enthusiasm for the sport generates a healthy attitude towards participation in our substantial, inclusive tennis programme. This also encourages strong competition for places in our teams.

Dauntsey’s puts out girls’ and boys’ teams at every year group and they continue to enjoy considerable success against our traditional independent school rivals, as well as (for teams up to Under 15 years age levels) in the Wiltshire Aegon Schools Tennis Competition. In 2017, our U14 boys Aegon Team reached the top twenty in the country.

Throughout the academic year over 200 pupils enjoy private tennis lessons (singularly or in pairs) with one of Dauntsey’s professional tennis coaches. Additionally, group sessions also run to cater for growing demand. Will Baillie leads a strong coaching team who are also affiliated with Devizes Tennis Club and provide coaching for all levels and age groups. Will is a Level 4 LTA Performance Coach and current County coach and selector. He has represented Wiltshire at all age groups and is Head coach at Devizes Tennis Club.
