Chemistry

Chemistry is a popular and successful subject at Dauntsey's with about 40 pupils (four sets) taking the subject in the Lower Sixth and 48 in the Upper Sixth (four sets), making chemistry the third largest A Level subject. Over the last five years, 74% of pupils gained grade A*/A/B at A Level.

At International GCSE, 80% of our pupils now opt to study separate International GCSEs in Chemistry, Physics and Biology. In the last five years 73% of pupils have achieved A/A* at International GCSE Chemistry. The remaining pupils take AQA GCSE Combine Science, although they are still taught the three sciences separately.

The Chemistry Department currently has six full-time members of teaching staff and two technicians. There are four full-sized laboratories as well as a fully equipped smaller laboratory used mainly for Sixth Form teaching.
