Scott
Lower School Day (Boys and Girls, First-Third Form inc.)
Scott House was established in 1986 and is named after John Scott who taught English at Dauntsey's from 1934-1969. The House crest and accompanying motto Bien ou Rien came from Mr Scott's great-grandfather, the architect Sir Gilbert Scott.
Scott has a history of excellent cross-country runners who have won the Inter-House Competition regularly since 1996. The House walls are covered in photos of house events and competitions spanning many years.
Every year a number of Third Form pupils are elected as House, Sports or Music captains as well as representatives who sit on the School Charity Committee. These pupils are encouraged in their roles to help with the day-to-day management of the House. Scott prides itself on its friendly atmosphere and is a popular meeting place for many Lower School pupils.
Housemistress - Paula Minter
Paula arrived at Dauntsey’s in 2012 and is a prominent member of the Mathematics department. She has tutored in Rendell House for the last eight years and this, combined with the fact that her two daughters went through Scott, means that she has an intuitive understanding of how the Lower School and its houses work. Paula completed the Devizes to Westminster Race in 2017 and has been a keen supporter of this event ever since, while she has also accompanied the Second and Third Form sailing trips in the last twelve months. Paula is one of life’s enthusiasts and will bring energy, enthusiasm and a huge sense of fun.
