Head Master's Notices

I hope that everyone had a chance to enjoy the snow last weekend. Our boarders definitely made the most of it with snowball fights, plenty of sledging, skiing and snow surfing and, of course, an abundance of hot chocolate!

I am very proud of our 1st XV rugby team who played in the U18 Semi-final at Allianz Park on Tuesday afternoon. They lost to an exceptionally strong Langley School, but performed with tremendous character and courage, not to mention considerable skill. It was the last game of an outstanding season, which began in Australia last summer holidays.

Yesterday evening, we welcomed Jo Fairley for her Mercers’ Lecture entitled The Rollercoaster Story of Green and Black’s (and Lessons Learned along the Way). It was an a very interesting insight into an entrepreneur’s journey and running an ethical business, and it was good to see such a large audience once again.

This coming weekend training continues in earnest for both the Gold DofE team who are off to Wales, and the DW team who will be out on the Thames, camping overnight on Saturday. Their fundraising for Malayaka House is going well, and they are hoping to exceed their target before the end of term with your support.

I wish our sports teams tomorrow the best of luck in their fixtures against Lord Wandsworth, Colston’s and Kingswood.

Manor Matters

The Manor looked beautiful in the snow and the Manorites certainly enjoyed their ‘Snow Days’ last weekend. Snowmen and an igloo were built; snowballs were thrown; sledges were raced down slopes; cookies were baked (and devoured!), and Mr Sampson even got his skis out! Great fun was had by all, and there were many windswept faces and wet socks in the House on Saturday night when we settled down to watch ‘Eddie the Eagle’!

On Monday evening we held the heats for ‘Manor’s Got Talent’; this was a most entertaining evening and the judges had a hard task selecting the finalists – the final takes place on Sunday 18th March at 7pm and parents, guardians, family & friends are very welcome to join us. On Wednesday evening, the Manorites enjoyed taking part in the Wide Game and some of the camouflage used by the pupils was most impressive! This weekend, we are looking forward to the ‘Great Manor Bake Off’ on Sunday, and many of our pupils are involved in rehearsals for the Lower School’s production of ‘The Railway Children’.
