Head Master's Notices

Tonight sees the final showing of our Lower School play The Railway Children. The 60 pupils involved have worked extremely hard this term to produce an exciting production with plenty of adventure, resilience, and drama at its heart.

Congratulations to our pupils who were involved this week in the Mid-Somerset Festival Chamber Music and Choir Competitions. Our Chamber Orchestra, String Quartet, Saxophone Quartet and Female Voices Choir all won their classes.

Tomorrow, the boys’ hockey teams take on Bristol Grammar School, whilst the netball squads play King’s Bruton and KES Bath.

With best wishes to you all for an enjoyable weekend.

Manor Matters

Our First and Second Form boarders, along with a few ‘Friends on Friday’, enjoyed a fun swimming session last week and this was followed by a relaxing, quiet weekend in the House.

On Saturday evening, the pupils enjoyed watching a film and snacking on popcorn. The following day, the heat in the kitchen significantly rose as the ‘Great Manor Bake Off’ took place. Pupils had to produce 3 identical cupcakes using a recipe supplied by Mr Fulling, and the judging was carried out by three ‘expert’ cake-tasters! One group of girls was very creative and managed to (accidentally) produce ‘rainbow’ sponge, whilst other entrants stuck to the more traditional vanilla or chocolate cupcake. After much deliberation, and plenty of tasting, the judges finally awarded the ‘Star Baker’ award to Malo. All of the Manorites then enjoyed sampling the entries, and agreed that the standard of entry was exceptionally high!

This week the House is buzzing as the Manorites practise for ‘Manor’s Got Talent’, which takes place on Sunday at 19:00. Parents, families and friends are warmly invited to join us for this lovely event.
Anne Sampson, House Mistress.
