Playing Regulations 2018

1. The Laws of Cricket will apply except where specified below.
2. Matches shall consist of one innings per team of either 40 or 50 overs, or less if the start is delayed, or as mutually agreed. If the team batting first is bowled out in less than the allocated overs, unused overs will not be available to the team batting last.
3. The winning team shall be the team scoring the most runs.
4. 4 points shall be awarded for a win, 3 for a tie and 2 for a no-result.
5. The league will be won by the team totalling the most points at the end of the programme of matches. If the final league table has two or more teams tied for 1st place, the winner will be the team having the most victories during the season. If this does not separate the teams then the league title will be shared.

Bowling restriction
6. No bowler will bowl more than 1/5th of the total overs allowed.
7. In the event of a bowler being unable to complete an over, the remaining balls will be bowled by another bowler. Such parts of overs will be counted as full overs in both bowlers allocations.

Interruptions to play
8. The full allocation of overs may still be played despite an interruption, by mutual consent, if sufficient time is thought to be available.
9. An interruption during the first innings of a match may lead to an agreed reduction in the total allocation equivalent to one over of each innings for each 8 minutes of play lost.
10. An interruption during the second innings may lead to a reduction in the allocation of the team batting second equivalent to one over for each 4 minutes of play lost.
11. The Duckworth/Lewis (D/L) Method shall be used in all matches. If any match is suspended after it has started such that the number of overs available to be faced by either side is reduced from that determined when the match started, the revised target shall be computed using the D/L method.
12. Fractions will be rounded to the nearest whole number in all calculations.
13. For an interrupted match to be completed the team batting second must receive a minimum of 15 overs.

Result
14. If the scores finish level then the team losing the fewer wickets will be the winner.
15. If the scores finish level and both teams have lost the same number of wickets the result will be a tie.

Fielding Restrictions
16. Semi circles, 30 yards from the middle stump at each end of the pitch will be marked by discs, the semi circles will be joined by further discs in lines 60 yards apart and parallel to the pitch.
17. At all times there must be at least four fielders, in addition to the wicketkeeper and bowler, within the fielding circles.
18. For the first ¼ of the overs of any innings, no matter what its duration only two fielders are permitted outside the 30 yard circle.
19. The penalty for an infringement of the fielding regulations is for either umpire to call “no ball”.
20. In a match of reduced overs, the fielding restrictions are reduced proportionally.

Additional
21. Players representing their school in this competition should be U19 years on 1st Sept. the previous year, and in full-time education at the school concerned.
22. Umpires should call and signal “wide” if the ball passes to the leg side of the batsman’s normal stance at the crease.
