Head Master's Notices

It has been a long first half of term, particularly for the Upper Sixth as they have tackled their revision in preparation for the A Level examinations after half-term. Meanwhile the Fifth Form are nearly half way through their GCSE’s and I hope that they have gone well so far.

There are a number of trips over half-term with Fourth Form Geographers off to Barcelona, Lower School German pupils off to the Rhineland, ten Second Formers on the Isle of Wight for a ‘Dinghy Adventure’ and a ‘Trek to the Stones’ expedition, taking in a walk from Dauntsey’s to Avebury and camping en route.

Farmer House have run an outstanding Charity Boules Competition this week, capturing the interest of most of the school, and I congratulate the winners this year 'La Petanque' (Mr Tonkiss, Miss Wilkins, Mrs Braby-Leman and Mr Braby). They faced 'Kinder Bueno' in the final and came back from 2-0 to win 3-2.

After a fun Leavers' breakfast this morning I am looking forward to seeing the Upper Sixth and their parents at their BBQ this afternoon.

I wish you all a happy and relaxing half-term.

Manor Matters

Last Sunday, many of the Manorites took part in the Manor Marathon and cycled the 26 miles, or ran in stages, from Bath Abbey to The Manor – the weather could not have been kinder and the children enjoyed beautiful sunny skies and many bottles of water en route. Despite blistered hands, sore bottoms and a couple of punctures, the Manorites safely made it home and were rewarded with a delicious BBQ lunch and cool ice lollies. The waterslide came out on Sunday afternoon and much fun was had by all.

This week has seen exams for our younger boarders, and all were looking forward to the annual football tournament that was scheduled for last night – unfortunately, rain stopped play and the tournament was postponed until next term. Instead, the Manorites were treated to a film night and most of the House packed into the TV room to watch ‘The Greatest Showman’. Popcorn, eclairs and crisps were enjoyed, and all of the children went off to bed happily singing songs from the film and looking forward to the half term holiday.
