Head Master's Notices

The majority of the Fifth Form have been back in this week, after a few days off after their exams, and seem to have enjoyed their post-GCSE Life Skills courses. The pictures from the Jurassic Adventure and the Jolie Brise have highlighted the extraordinary weather that we have all been enjoying. Meanwhile, the Third Form have been preparing for their Ball this evening, as they get ready to say goodbye to the Lower School and their current houses in time for September.

The last Saturday of the summer sees fixtures against Bryanston, Wiltshire U18 Tennis and King Edward VI School, Southampton. In addition, boys’ and girls' tennis teams will be taking part in our internal Davis Cup and I would like to wish the best of luck to our Lower Sixth pupils taking on the Brecons Challenge on Sunday.

The Summer Art Exhibition opens on Monday at 17:30, and we have two excellent drama productions taking place throughout next week, with further details below.

I do hope that all of our pupils enjoy their final week of school before a well-deserved Summer break and I look forward to seeing many of you at Speech Day and Prize Giving.

Lower School Notices and Reminders

Manor Matters

We were very pleased to welcome our new first form boarders for a sleepover last Saturday and the glorious weather allowed them the opportunity to enjoy our wonderful grounds at The Manor. For many of our visitors, the waterslide was the highlight of their stay, and we also enjoyed an hour on Poppy’s Field playing rounders; everyone went to bed sun-kissed and happy, and ready for New Pupils’ Day the following day.

This week we have been seeing lots of action on the waterslide and we also held our Annual Football Tournament on Tuesday. All of the Manorites were put into teams and it was great to see the whole house entering into the competitive spirit and fun – supper in the shade of the trees provided a welcome break and, after some fairly tense penalty shoot outs, ‘Real Madrid’ were crowned winners of the Cup, and ‘Benfica’ were winners of the plate.

Our third form pupils are very much looking forward to celebrating the end of their time in the Lower School tomorrow at the Third Form Ball – parents of third form pupils are very welcome to join us for pre-dinner drinks at The Manor from 18:30; the children will then go into dinner at 19:00.

Next week, we are going to watch the school production of ‘Once’ on Monday night, pupils are going to race in the Manor Dash on Tuesday and we are head off on our Surprise Trip on Thursday….hopefully some packing will be done too!
Anne Sampson, House Mistress.
