Head Master's Notices

It has been another tough week of exams but at least the end is now in sight for those with A and GCSE level papers.

Meanwhile the Third Form have spent the week at Moonrakers Camp in Aberdovey where they have been rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, jetty jumping and more. They also completed an expedition that saw them walking over 20km and spending the night under canvas. I congratulate them on completing the week so successfully in what were very testing conditions. In fact, it was tougher and wetter than any week I can remember, and yet they remained positive and upbeat, which is fantastic and a great credit to them. They arrive back tomorrow afternoon.

Our First and Second Form Manorites are also embarking on an adventure, as they head to Poole this weekend for water-sports and beach games.

Tomorrow sees fixtures against Clifton College and Warminster, and some of our athletes will be at the South West Championships. I wish all of them the best of luck.

I do hope that you all have an enjoyable weekend.

Mouthguards

Your child may be taking part in Rugby or Hockey during the year and following the advice of the Rugby Football Union and Hockey Associations it is compulsory that all pupils participating in these sports should wear a mouthguard; we would highly recommend that this is fitted professionally.

Therefore, in the interest of your child’s safety, we have invited OPRO, a dental organisation that specialises in mouthguards, to visit the School on Monday 1 July for the Lower School pupils, and Tuesday 2 July for the Upper School pupils. This will give everyone, including wearers of fixed braces, the opportunity to have a dentally fitted mouthguard at a reasonable cost. If your child already has a mouthguard please check if it still fits as this is an important factor in ensuring its effectiveness.

Please read the attached opt-out letter for Lower School Parents
Please read the attached opt-in letter for Upper School Parents

Residential Rugby Camp

The London Irish community team will be hosting a residential rugby camp at Dauntsey's this summer to give young people the chance to get a feel of what it's like to eat, sleep and train like a professional rugby player.

The three-day camp will be an opportunity for children to develop their rugby skills, learn new things and get a better understanding of rugby on and off the field.

The camp will touch upon the development of new and existing rugby skills, nutrition, strength and conditioning and more! For more information please visit their website page here.

There are also day camp options for boys and girls. Please read here for further information.

Manor Matters

It has been a blissfully peaceful week at The Manor without our Third Form boarders who are, by all accounts, enjoying a rather soggy week in Aberdovey. On Monday, the First Form had the run of the House as the Second Form returned late from a trip; we enjoyed a very delicious ‘family style’ supper in the dining room, followed by a short Prep session and a film night – it felt like a very frivolous way to spend a Monday evening!

On Wednesday night, our Lower Sixth prefects organised a game of football (in the rain!), and last night we completed the last of our packing, ready to depart for our Activity Weekend in Poole this afternoon. We are hopeful that we will see some sunshine during our stay at the seaside, but have all agreed that, as we will be in the sea for most of the time, it doesn’t matter if it rains, as we will be wet anyway!

The Third Form are due to return to The Manor on Saturday afternoon, and they will be able to enjoy a very quiet day recovering on Sunday – it will be lovely to see them (we have missed them!), and we can’t wait to hear all about their adventures in Wales.
Please do follow us on Twitter @ManorDauntseys to keep up to date.
