Sailing Programme 2018

In 2017, Jolie Brise took part in the International Rendez-vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta – a 10,000 nautical mile transatlantic race visiting Portugal, Bermuda, America, Canada and France.

Pupils have crossed the Atlantic on Jolie Brise previously in 2000 and 2009. In 2017, the Captain, first mate and bosun on the leg from Portugal to Bermuda were all former pupils whose love of sailing was sparked by their experiences on Jolie Brise whilst at Dauntsey's.

If it is a fast race leg, there will be time to cruise through some of the Danish Islands of Fano, Mando and Romo. This leg should have a bit of something for everyone.

As this is a Tall Ships Event you MUST have had your 15th birthday by 12 July.

Cruising with the Fleet

Friday 20 July – Saturday 28 July (9 days)
[Esbjerg, Denmark to Stavanger, Norway]

Racing from Stavanger in Norway, all the way South to Harlingen in Northern Holland, before cruising through the Ijsselmeer, visiting Amsterdam out through the North Sea Canal, back across the North Sea and South to finish in Ramsgate. This cruise really will be a mixture of everything, with a serious Race Leg, which if it is fast there will be time to cruise amongst the Dutch Frisian Islands, Texel and perhaps Vlieland, before spending a good rest period in the amazing town of Harlingen with the rest of the Tall Ships Fleet and all the associated festivities. Then, with some gentle cruising in the Inland Waters of Holland, with two nights in Amsterdam, and then another serious sail across the North Sea to Ramsgate.

I have sailed on Jolie Brise in Norway, and across the Bay of Biscay to Portugal, but the highlight for me was sailing across the North Atlantic for 19 days this summer. I have seen incredible things that I could not have experienced anywhere else. It has been life-changing.
