What were your favourite subjects at School?
Apart from all sports, it would be design technology - the facilities were great and my teachers incredibly supportive. That combination gave me so much scope and encouragement to develop and follow my own ideas. My DT A Level project was to do with GoPro action sports camera, so pretty much a precursor to my early freelance work!
Do you think your time at Dauntsey’s prepared you well for life after school?
Definitely. DT might have been my favourite, but I was nudged as needed to ensure I also spent sufficient time on my other subjects (Maths, Physics and Geography) and that ensured I got the right grades to get into the university of my choice and the start of my journey post Dauntsey’s. Sport was a big influence for me; and I really enjoyed playing for school teams in all major sports.
What are your fondest memories of Dauntsey’s?
The ruby tour to Australia in my Lower Sixth was amazing. Lots of fun and laughter and great sport too of course, but for me it really opened my mind to travelling. I’ve spent a lot of time in Australia since and travelling around the world in my work and have now visited all seven continents of the world. Oh, and very fond memories of the food at Dauntsey’s - always delicious and plenty of it – my favourite being Sunday brunch!
Finally, any advice to current Sixth Form pupils?
Do what you love, take any opportunity presented to you and work hard and you will eventually find a way to be paid for doing what you love!
