Confirmation at Salisbury Cathedral

It was a momentous and special day as 14 Dauntsey’s pupils were confirmed into the Church of England at a ceremony conducted by the Bishops of Sherborne and Ramsbury at Salisbury Cathedral.

The students have been preparing for confirmation with meetings each week through the spring and start of the summer terms.  In these classes they discussed important features of Christian beliefs and practices, and what it means to confirm your faith.

The students came from the Third to Upper Sixth Forms and each invited someone significant in their life to be their sponsor and present them to the Bishop.  During the service, 65 young people from the Salisbury Diocese stood before the congregation of friends and families and declared their Christian faith.  The Bishops anointed each one with oil and blessed them with the Holy Spirit.

Confirmations were halted by the pandemic but we very much look forward to preparing students again next spring and celebrating with them and their families in May.  If anyone is interested in finding out more, please contact Mrs Pratt.
