EDI takes centre stage

The topic of Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) took centre stage this week as Justine Wall, our EDI lead presented to both staff and pupils about the journey we will be undertaking in the coming months and years.

Over the course of the next year we will be working with external auditors, Inclusion Labs and looking at ways in which we can move Dauntsey’s forward, embracing all aspects of equality, diversity and inclusivity.  This week, presentations to both the Lower School and Upper School took place and the response from students has been extremely positive. Students have volunteered to join staff in the Inclusion Labs Working Party, and we are also setting up an LGBTQ+ Group and a Culture Committee.

In our assemblies, students examined attitudes to EDI, and we looked at the positive changes we can make to our everyday behaviour that will ensure all of our community feels included and valued. EDI assemblies and presentations will be regular occurrences throughout the school, either in tutorial time or more formal morning assemblies.

I was very excited to take on the role as Dauntsey’s EDI Lead in January, as it is an area I am engaged with and feel passionately about. It has been a wonderful few months and I am looking forward to working with both pupils and staff on the journey we will be undertaking.  I welcome ideas and suggestions from parents too - if this is an aspect of school life that you think you would like to contribute to, or indeed if you have any ideas for external speakers who may be able to come and talk to our school, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
