Head Master's Notices

Many congratulations to Mr Walker, Mr Harris, Miss Wilkins, Mr Herring and the cast and crew of In the Heights.  In a brilliant run of performances, 160 pupils on stage have been supported by over thirty behind it and I cannot thank them all enough for their hard work over the last few weeks.  Wonderful individual performances, great dance numbers, an extraordinarily challenging musical score for the band, and a set built and managed by our amazing technical crew, made for the most memorable of weeks.  I wish the cast and crew well for tonight and tomorrow and I hope that they enjoy the end of show party on Monday.

I wish our sports teams tomorrow the best of luck, with the last round of fixtures of the term against Bristol Grammar School and Lord Wandsworth College. Our Fencers are also in action at Abingdon School and I hope they do well, having worked hard and improved steadily over the last few weeks. With it being the last Saturday afternoon of the term, I would very much like to take this opportunity to thank Mel and the catering team in the pavilion for looking after everyone so well, most days of the week, since the beginning of September.

Looking ahead to next week, we have a Mufti day on Wednesday in aid of our school charity – I look forward to seeing everyone in their best Christmas attire! We have a number of Inter-House sporting events, and the Carol Services on Thursday and Friday will round off the Autumn term, which officially ends at 16.00 on Friday 13 December.

GCE and GCSE Timetables Summers 2020

It may seem a little early but the timetables for next summer are now available. Please follow the link here

The only remaining dates  to be agreed are those for language oral exams and some practical exams. Once these are agreed with visiting examiners, students will be advised.

This will detail exam dates, times and locations for each pupil. In the meantime you can access more exams information via the school intranet site here.

Fifth Form Mock Exams in January 2020

Students have now been sent their individual timetables for January. The Mock exams will run from Weds 8th January until Thursday 16 January. The timetable can be found here

More information will follow, early next term,  about the Upper Sixth Mock exams which run from Monday 24th February until Friday 28 February.

Any queries at any time, feel free to contact myself or Mrs Jones at the exams office on 01380 814677.

Manor Matters

The Manorites enjoyed a quiet (ish) weekend in House last weekend, and on Sunday, our enormous Christmas tree was decorated in style…with LOTS of baubles!  Some of the children baked some delicious cookies, whilst others battled it out on the table tennis table.  There was also a more sombre moment during the weekend, as sadly we had to bury the house hamster, Houdini.  As his name suggests, Houdini led an exciting life, and Miss Seager is certainly grateful that she no longer has to tempt him out from behind the skirting boards following one of his disappearing acts!

On Monday we all watched the first performance of ‘In The Heights’, and it was wonderful to see some of our own pupils performing in this fantastic show.  The rest of the week has been spent putting the finishing touches onto Christmas Cakes, and preparing for the Advent Concert on Sunday evening; this annual event takes place at The Manor at 19:00 and all parents and families are warmly invited to join us to enjoy an evening of festive treats.

The last few tutor group evenings are taking place this week and next, and Mr Kersley’s tutor group enjoyed delicious pizza whilst watching a film on Wednesday night.
